Updates from Indy

Monday (Aug.6)

Our flight went well and arrived in Indianapolis around noon. We got on the shuttle to pick up our rental car and as we were about to be dropped off, the driver said I think that was your car that just drove off. So the manager, to make up for the inconvenience, gave us a convertible car for the same price of the standard car. Not a bad deal at all.

[Our rental car. Ready to test around the Speedway.]

After checking in to our hotel then we headed to the pool. This is my 3rd time in Indy, (the last time in 2000 for Olympic Trials). We checked in for the meet and got our meet credentials. Lawson was pretty impressed by "The Nat". Two (2) fifty meter pools (one competition and another for w-up) and 1 25-yard diving well pool. While he as warming up, I looked for the Speedo representative to get his free suit. His choice was any FSII suit or a 60% discount on any FSPro suit. Chose the FSPro (a $200 suit for $65.00; not a bad deal). Tried the suit on for pace and loved the feel of the suit. He said it felt like your not even wearing a suit. Had a great w-up and ready for tomorrow.

Tuesday (Aug. 7)

After being seeded dead last coming into the meet, He swims the 200 Breaststroke and drops 2 more seconds from this best time 2 weeks ago at Sectionals with a 2:28.90. He was pleased with his time hanging on his taper. he ends up 51st out of 91 swimmers in the event (from dead last). Day off tomorrow then the 100 on Thursday.

His splits:

  32.40

1:09.53 (37.13)

1:49.24 (39.71)

2:28.90 (39.66)

Wednesday (Aug. 8)

We didn't have to go to the pool until late morning to get wake up swim. We both missed the hotel breakfast so Denny's it is.

Thursday (Aug. 9)

Lawson sporting his new FSPro

Swimming in Lane 8, Lawson finishes 5th in heat 14 (15 heats total) with a time of 1:07.31 (.21 off his PB). His splits:

reaction time: 0.61

                   31.53

                1:07.31 (35.78)

He finishes 30th out of 113 and was .46 off in making finals tonight. A very good swim on his second shave meet. It has been a good experience for him for his first summer Junior Nationals. Results
